What Is....

PAR 3 GOLF:
is golf played at scratch on the Tour 3 Golf Course in St. Charles.  Men 50-69 play from the back tees, women 50-69 play from the middle tees and men & women 70+ from the front tees.  There is water on some holes.

WASHER TOSS:
is accumulating 21 points by tossing four, 3/4 inch, flat washers into a target 25 feet from the throw line.

POWER WALKING:
is a progression of rapid steps.  One foot must be on the ground at all times.  The lead foot must be in contact with the ground before the back foot can leave the ground.  When a person loses contact with the ground (both feet off the ground at the same time), it is called lifting and can disqualify the walker.

RACE WALKING:
is same as above but in addition, each leg must be straightened at least momentarily when the body passes over the supporting leg during each stride.  Failure to straighten the leg is called creeping.  If  the race walker fails to abide by any of these rules, he/she may be given a caution by one of the judges.  Upon a second caution, the athlete will be disqualified.  Flagrant violations may result in disqualification without any cautions.  Disqualification may also occur after the competition if the assembled judges agree.
